Safety,viewed through the lens of actual onsite personnel is, day by day, a moving target, a highly variable experience, and not an absolute.   By Law, however, it is non-negotiable. Between the two lies the possibility of carefully nurturing a CULTURE - a mindset - of SAFETY AWARENESS and RISK MANAGEMENT.

The CoSHA APP is the Communication platform upon which to build such a Safety culture.

 

For the men and women who, every day, traverse planks 50 feet up in the air, handle corrosive liquids in hothouse environments, clear electrical cords and wires amid sweat and grime, cover eyes and faces to escape electrical sparks and work in dangerous proximity to powered industrial trucks and heavy machinery just to build our cities. The pressure of having to meet scheduled deadlines, leads them to make the choice between doing .Getting the job done, on time and on budget, is ultimately what matters.That is, until someone is hurt.

 

“Safety”, in real time, is a negotiated, very ‘elastic’ concept. Risk is real and it varies according to one’s role.

 

The focus for those who make the initial financial investment on any construction project is ‘zero loss tolerance’.For those in the trenches, the training material that they’re meant to apply is too dense, and it needs to be simplified. Just give them what they need when they need it, in the most comprehensible way.The trainer stands between these two: On the one hand, the corporate sustainability that the employer seeks and, on the other, the safety standards that will keep the workers alive.
